THE EP SPACE
Transform the Way
You Work
How it started
As a Chartered Educational and Child Psychologist, I have used sensory assessments in my practice for many years. This resource was developed from real conversations with young people and has been refined through extensive use in schools and therapeutic settings. It’s a powerful starting point for self-awareness, emotional regulation, and person-centred planning.
How it works
The Sensory Self card sort is a colourful, accessible tool that helps children and young people understand their own sensory experiences and how these may affect how they feel, behave and interact with others. With simple first-person statements and clear visuals, the cards can be sorted into “Like Me”, “Sometimes Like Me” and “Not Like Me” to support conversations around needs, preferences and strategies.

FAQ
What is The EP Space?
The EP Space is a hub created by a Chartered Educational and Child Psychologist for sharing practical, evidence-informed resources, ideas, and online training. Everything here is designed to support professionals working with children and young people.
Who is behind The EP Space?
The EP Space was developed by Dr. Eleanor Tomlinson, a HCPC-registered, Associate Member of the BPS and Chartered Educational and Child Psychologist with over 16 years’ experience working in schools, local authorities and independent practice. The aim is to make psychological tools and insights accessible in practical, ready-to-use formats.
Do you offer direct Educational Psychology services to schools or families?
No. The EP Space does not provide direct EP services or consultations. It cannot provide advice on individual young people or situations. It focuses solely on sharing resources and online training developed through professional practice.
Who are your resources for?
Our resources are designed for education, health and social care professionals who support children and young people. There are a range of resources available covering a variety of different needs and topics.
Can I use your resources in professional training sessions or classrooms?
Yes. You’re welcome to use The EP Space resources in your own professional context — whether in school staff meetings, supervision sessions, or classroom discussions. However, please don’t reproduce or distribute them for resale, and credit The EP Space within the training or handouts.
Can I collaborate or feature your resources in my training/event?
We welcome collaborations and partnerships that align with our values. Please get in touch to discuss possibilities.
